Max Ernst and Hans Bellmer

Post by Wanderland »

I did a search, but I think it's safe to say your search engine is pretty dire, since Ernst came up with two results - two threads with no mention of Ernst in any way shape or form. So... forgive me if this has been mentioned before.

Has anyone pointed out the similarity between the statue outside Kim's house in Innocence to Max Ernst's Young Chimera (http://www.abcgallery.com/E/ernst/ernst7.html)?

Thought it was interesting as the whole Bellmer thing is foregrounded quite a lot, but this was more understated. Do you agree of do you think it's incidental? Do we have any experts in the Bellmer direction? I'd love to know more.

E: Oh, actually, while I'm on the subject of Innocence, could anyone explain to me what the deal is with the Locus Solus/Logicus Solus difference (company name/inscribed on the music wheel thing)? The movement in Bellmer's drawings reminded me to ask.
