I`m a big Motoko`s fan and I really liked that episode. Every tiny bit of information about Motoko`s behavior in various situations is interesting to me and that episode wasn`t of any exception.
As for sexual content... I think there wasn`t anything that much explicit although the way how Motoko responded to the question "Can cyborgs have sex" was a bit unusual for an adult. But I believe that it just shows her individuality and the fact that she didn`t have many affairs with children lately.

The episode in its entirety definitely isn't trash. It talks about the background of Kuze, alludes to some operation in Mexico where drugs are formed into figurines to be sold, and once again shows how the lower levels of society function (a major theme in 2nd GIG).
It highlights the formation of identity the boy had in trying to carry on the work of Kuze, and how the boy's personal code was actually inconsistent with that of his idol. (Remember in the first season, when the Major was talking to Aoi, and said that it's better to live humbly for a cause than die for it?)
As for the questionable scene, I think it's just another one of those scenes that make us wonder about the whole personality of the Major and how consistent it is in the show. She seems to think that sex is another aspect of life, but only as something fun. The first season hints at her lesbian relationship with a friend, and we all know she likes to wear scanty clothes. For someone so serious like the Major, how can she be "fun" in this way?
Yet the fact that the show went out of its way to depict Motoko almost naked is probably a fan service, and one wonders whether fooling around with a boy in a sexual manner is appropriate or characteristic of her. In my opinion, it isn't of lower value because it includes fan service; it also is important to the show's meaning. The scene also goes to show how Motoko didn't think of things like maturity or intelligence in terms of age. She probably judged the boy as not the type of innocent who shouldn't hear about sex. Obviously Motoko was curious about the boy, and his fascination with cyborg technology, and so was inquisitive. My question is, was she serious and what are the implications? I don't think the show clearly indicates whether or not she was serious, so it's just something put there for you to think about.

Ah, NOW I remember which episode this one was. And you couldn't be more wrong. It had a good plot to it and showed another side of the Major. So what if she was nearly naked? Fans have to be serviced at some point.

I think she knew the reaction she would get and said it in order to get that reaction, to embarrass him so he would stop asking so she could get some sleep lol.
They were both trying to annoy and out wit each other (obviously not in any vicious manner) and she won.

Just out of curiousity and just a bit off topic. How much effort would be put into making a cyber-body respond to sexual simulation anyway. They talk in several places about how good the major is at using her body compared to most others. But would they really put that much effort into creating realistic sexual organs in a cyber-body. Even if the body parts were made to appear realistic would they put much effort ( and resourses ) into creating the nuero-network to respond to external stimulation. Seems it would take massive amounts of computing power and substancial wiring to pull off a true sexual experiance resembling anything like real-life

That episode was an inside view of society's lower points, as well as Motoko's own attitude. I liked the way she acted extremely unconventionally with the young boy. It was confusing, but very appropriate. Not my favourite, but it was good.

I don't think there's anything trashy about Motoko showin' off her assets every so often. I agree with whoever mentioned it above. Fans have to be serviced once in a while Haha!
On a more serious note though, I think people are blowing their minds over that episode waaaaaay too much. It's hilarious. They even have an entire paragraph on wikipedia dedicated to just that. It speculates on the Major's intentions, and its implications on her sexuality lol.
The only reason the Major asked that question was because she wanted to PROVE A POINT. She wanted to prove that this kid who has been blabbing about the gangs, black market deals, smuggling cocaine, becoming like Kuze, and acting all macho and grown up, was in the end... just a little kid biting off more than he could chew. The kid had a false sense of maturity and independence, which the Major gladly put to a test. And true enough, even in the face of such a provocative question (which 99% of grown men would have automatically seen as an invitation to have sex with her), the kid brushes it off as if it was nothing. It didn't even cross his mind. His innocent response easily proved that he was still an immature kid, who in the Major's own words, was "still looking to be coddled".
So no, the Major wasn't gonna give it up to some street kid she just met, and no she isn't Michael Jackson either. The whole idea on wiki that the Major might have tried to use "sexual" favors to gain the boy's trust is just ridiculous (someone oughta fix that article). Come on guys, the writer's had more discretion than that.
