NEW GITS
FINALLY !!!!!!!!
It became official today: there will be a new GITS series, this time called "arise". There's an article here with some details here: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/20 ... ch-in-2013
and a nice pic of Motoko:

Her style looks quite different ... and I'm not even referring to her hair and clothes but more the fact that she looks way younger, almost as young as her new shell at the end of the very first movie. I'm wondering if this series will be before the creation of Section 9...
Please continue to add the news to this thread ... hoping there will be a lot of guys back here

A few more details
https://twitter.com/kixyuubann/status/2 ... 8523383814
Kenji Kamiyama will NOT be involved in this project. A real bummer if you ask me. In my opinion he did a spectacular job with the series.
As far as who will be working on this project, here is who has been confirmed:
Executive Director: Kise Kazuchika (Debut. Worked as animator for many GitS projects.)
Screenplay: Tow Ubukata (Mardock Scramble, Fafner: Heaven and Earth)
Music: Cornelius (Appleseed: Ex Machina)
Also confirmed on ANN
A "Ghost in the Shell Arise Production Commemoration Special Night" event will also be held at the TOHO Cinemas in Roppongi Hills on February 12 from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00p.m. Tickets will go on sale on January 16 and will cost 2,000 yen (about US$22.50). The event will screen the Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - The Laughing Man compilation, and the Ghost in the Shell 2.0 and Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex: Solid State Society 3D films. Additionally, the event will host a 60-minute live-viewing event for Ghost in the Shell Arise, which will include announcements, clips from the new anime, and a talk show featuring staff and other special guests

You make a good point. I wouldn't mind a series that takes place before Section 9. Hopefully Section 9 will remain part of the canon.THYREN wrote:FINALLY !!!!!!!!![]()

What pleases me most is the level of participation in this thread. I guess we were all just dormant until another GitS came along!
Oh, and here is the main image from that page.

EDIT: The site for the image I originally linked to has turned into some kind of porn site with rules for casual sex. Do not visit!

People tend to look at you a little strangely when they know you stuff voodoo dolls full of Ex-Lax.
Well, I think the direct messages I sent to the top posters helped a bitFreitag wrote:What pleases me most is the level of participation in this thread. I guess we were all just dormant until another GitS came along!

That's awesome I hope someone records it.Jeff Georgeson wrote:There's also this (I don't think anyone posted this yet):
A "Ghost in the Shell Arise Production Presentation" will be streamed live worldwide on February 12 at 9:00 p.m. in Japan (7:00 a.m. EST) on Niconico, Bandai Channel, and YouTube.
Wonder if there might be English subtitles?
