Here is an interesting quote from Masamune Shirow:

"It is quite possible to create more stories for Appleseed," he said, "but there are things that needs to written for my other works as a prerequisite to enter the world of Tartaros. All other works such as Ghost in the Shell, Ghost Urn, Seven Traps, and Dead Drive, are connected with the universe of Appleseed, so I think I will have to fill the gaps with these surrounding worlds first."

Some have mentioned a connection that GitS has with Appleseed...and the 2nd Appleseed CG film film somewhat alludes to that, but these others my knowledge is slim.

Can't find anything on Seven Traps.
Dead Drive...as far as I could tell is a series of cyberpunk artwork that Masamune Shirow has done.
