different soundtracks

Post by RockBottom »

Hi there....
Im new into Gits and I love it and also its soundtrack.

Well, sometimes Im watching different language versions of gits in english, german and in the japanese language and I noticed that there are different soundtracks

f.E.
First vid 8:35 and 2nd 1:05 8:35

Same scene but a different song in the background.
In this case its okay. The version I prefer is the second one and the song is on one of the SAC osts.

But there are other scenes like in the 4th episode "intercepter". Togusa is standing in front of the mirror and realizing not a camera made those shots he got. (One user has a screenshot of this scene in his avatar).

What bothers me is the fact, that I couldnt ffind the song in this clip on any OST. The song seems to be only in the german version and neither in the english nor in the japanese one. (The clip is also in one of the two vids above).

Also I couldnt find this song at 2:20

but again I found two different sound versions.

To make long story short. Why do they change the fu***soundtrack?

think of it like this, would you try and read a CD in a floppy drive?

Different contries have different cultures and appreciate different styles of music, we can take the original GitS soundtrack and an example as it is suited to the japanese audience more (though this is a westerners view) as they appreciate more rythmic music, where as in a western culture there are few who appreciate the rythem of the drum on its own compared to the lyrics of a song.

The change in background music isnt uncommon but it there because it reflects the culture and helps the creators reflect the mood more accuratly to a culture than haveing generic music. Also consider film styles, american vs western vs the orient.

hope this helps.
