The first episode was very confusing. The thought that you take a kid with no training of any kind and stick him in a giant robot. Then send him out to save humanity is at best a little far fetched. I did like the series more as I got further into it.
It's kind of like Big O and Trigun. You need to get to the end before you can understand the beginning.
