I can't remember the programme makers ever giving an explaination of why it's called a 'gig', but it could be either a reference to a 'gigabyte' or the slang word 'gig' which just means a job(normally a job playing music, but it's meaning has expanded to describe any job).

I'm not sure to be honest I think the UK got the good subs for the DVD but the earlier bad subs for the cinema release.

There were two different versions of the subs for innocence though and one of them was painfully bad.

I saw it on the big screen in the UK, can't remember where though. But I somehow doubt we'll see GitS 2.0 prior to the DVD release except maybe in some arts cinemas it's just too niche.

Ya Champloo would have started to drag if it'd gone on for too much longer, that still doesn't stop me from craving another series or a film.
