this film has totally grown on me, got the dvd and watched it whole bunch of times - even if the characters are a little bit shallow, it's still got giant metal sand worms! :D

I would've liked it better if they had used it to further the tension between togusa and batou over their roles now being almost reversed, it makes sense that batou would run off and follow motoko, but not so much with togusa - it just seems a shame that the writers overlooked a great opportunity fo...

what would have to happen for a grey goo scenario to take place anyway? I'm not well informed on the subject, but it seems to me like the fear of grey goo would only be valid in a sort of system that mimiced a biological system, replicating out of control like cancer. But the proposed models for man...

This stuff has always been cool, but by the same measure it's one of those things that I really hope they never get to work properly. The nations it would be most availible to are the ones most likely to misuse it or use it to further the efficacy of their current abuses of power. Mind you the theor...

civilisation does seem somewhat perilous of late... mind you we've pretty much always been on the brink of screwing humanity over one way or another. Did you know for instance that if the guy who developed CFCs had used Bromine instead of chlorine compounds then CFCs would have completely destroyed ...

trapeeze artists! I was watching a programme on the cirque de soleil a while back, it had loads of people descending and ascending on wires, doing little wall runs and backflips whilst dangling and the geekier side of my brain kept on thinking 'very nice, but tachikoma could do it better'.

I still have a VHS fansub made by the one guy in my old film club who understood japanese :) it doesn't really work anymore though, pictures very fuzzy, there's a strange high-pitched whine throughout and it gets the audio from Arcadia of My Youth towards the end(I think that's what it was recorded ...

The way I see it, Aoi had nothing to do with the threats and attempted assasination of the police general. The threats and the attack from the infected body-guards was planned and carried out by the people trying to convince people that Nanao was the real laughing man. By imitating the laughing man ...

'Batman Gotham Knights' worth getting?

It just came out on DVD, yet another one of those between film animations like the animatrix(the matrix), dark fury(pitch black) and the hellboy ones I can't remember. It's PG-13 and they say it's about fairly adult themes, so is it worth watching or should we batman-nerds give it a skip?

I really like SC III, but I'm terminally oldschool and require my fighting to be as flat as a pancake, none of this modern 3D jiggerypokery! I'll just have to wait for Street Fighter IV... :(

I feel like I should add the new 'alone in the dark' games to the list, please don't waste your money on them ppl. :P It's basically just a series of single-solution puzzles that have no consistent logic with any others throughout the game so that they can be virtually impossible the first time thro...

Individual 11 and the laughing man

Are the condensed feature film versions of GitS, the Individual 11 and the laughing man worth getting if you've already seen the series several hundred times? I spotted the DVDs going cheap in my local shop but don't know if it's really worth it for the extra scenes and music.. I'm an obsessive fanb...
