Oh, I was not taking "fully functional" to mean gestationally functional. I was taking it to mean mechanically functional.

Did I miss a point somewhere?

They talk about growing the cells on the wire substrate for the study, so to use it for a real interface they need to add the wires after the fact to living cells.

I'm not even sure if Motoko is "fully functional". Two episodes pop to mind. The first one answers your question. When the Major is in the hotel with the kid while looking for background info on Kuze - she offers to be fully functional with him. Because he asks that specific question. The...

Scroll down. Watch the video

The talk here postulates that the technology and the philosophy are inseparable. Particularly when she talks about going beyond the need to make human looking prosthetics (which is sort of funny, because her first ones were not human looking at all)

I didn't catch that Aramaki was surprised. Maybe that will be my escuse to re-watch the whole series again :) Anyway, the Time of Eve anime is exploring exactly that - when you can't tell a human from a robot, how do you deal with emotional attachments. I dunno if ToE is going to go as deeply into t...

FLCL rocks! But if you hate FLCL, then I know you will also dislike Dead Leaves.

I guess it is another one that is subject to the eye of the beholder.

Eye of the beholder.

Are there any that are universally reviled? For instance the version of Lord of the Rings where they filmed live actors and then drew over the frames?

I guess we are looking for the "Plan 9 from Outer Space" of anime?

Is the little girl sidekick a half demon? I didn't get that. Or at least I do not recall that. <spoiler alert> Other than him being responsible for the deaths of her parents (that had become "infected") I almost go the idea that they had a relationship like Matilda and Leon in The Professi...

Oh very cool! That looks like phpBB2 - is there a phpBB3 version?

I help out on another BBS (very low traffic) that is phpBB3 and they have one forum that is anime themed and asked for a "cool background"

Here is what I came up with.
