Re: Do you trust your perception and understanding?

Well, do you trust your understanding of the world around you? Is what you think really how things are? Do you doubt your own ghost? If not, why? If so, why? :) Marto I do. It is. I don't. Because... I do agree that our senses are limited. We see only a fraction of the EM spectra. We feel only a li...

What actual difference exists between between these VI and acts like Milli Vanilli or the pre-fab boy bands?

There is more silicone in some of these real singers than there is my my laptop.

At least a VI won't go hang with that Hilton skank or throw up on your shoes.

I've heard that anime is priced so high (in part) to compensate for losses suffered due to internet piracy. It wouldn't surprise me. (To be clear, though, I'm no pirate. :P) I would just figure it's more of a 'what the market will bear' thing. They charge it because we pay it. And pay it. And pay it.

I quite liked this series although i'm not a big fan of short series' just because of the way that they are priced...... usually the same amount for a 13 episode as a 24 or 26... which is kinda boring.. I saw the full series on one disk for $20.00, though I have the original boxed set. I had a frie...

My vision is also slightly defective. And sometimes darned peculiar. I am right handed, but my left eye produced higher cognition. I was reading a sign one day while lamenting the fact that my astigmatism fell between two standard corrections so neither setting was satisfactory. (this is another ran...

We've had some recent breakthroughs in genomics and there might be a race between the mechanics and the biologists for who gets to deliver the first round of enhancements. As for what can come from those unnecessary enhancements, some those concepts were explored in two stories that I know of. One i...

Re: Three questions--

1) Batou's prosthetic eyes--I want some like his (but yes, I know that right now that technology isn't available). Masamune gives some brief insight as to how they function, but I'd like to know if there are any books on the eye/optic nerve, etc. that you all would recommend, so I can at least form...

I think it is a universal theme. I have heard a quote that I think applies here. "If you love the law or love sausages, never watch either being made." I think the point is that almost every job looks better on the outside than it does on the inside. Some are probably more romanticized tha...
