I agree, I wouldn't want that either. I love The Matrix for what it is and stylistically it's an amazing concept, but it's not GiTS, not by a long shot.

The 'grey goo' scenario is one basically formulated from this argument: Nanotechnology can be made. If it can be made it can be made to dismantle other things. If it can dismantle other things down to a low enough level, say molecular or atomic level, then it can manufacture it's own building blocks...

That's kind of odd, because Bromine is less reactive than Chlorine. I guess it didn't bond as well to the Fluorine as Chlorine does, meaning the Bromine was more likely to be displaced by the highly reactive Ozone molecule.
