The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

This is a very new title (April 2, 2006 – July 2, 2006 in Japan) I just saw and I wonder if enough people have seen it to make decent conversation on it. Due its newness, it's obviously only available as fansubs, for now, so if you have a strong convinction against them, you propably won't be seeing...

In Japan everything's expensive - especially music and DVDs. It'll get cheaper in the US.

An AI must certainly have human experience in order to act in a human enviroment. Thankfully, the development of robotics will allow them to experience our world, firsthand. All senses, other than taste or smell can already be applied to robots and the last two, I imagine, will come sooner or later....

AI's hav to be progamed with the abilty to be more inteligent first. theres no reason to create such a thing other than for the purpose of it being really cool. I don't think people would want to create something with that kind of intelect. You think? The practical uses are countless. The modern te...

AI will never surpass us because they need us to reproduce them. And they are not biological creatures so they can't evolve and adapt when nessesary. they also need us to mantane them. Well I don't know. Think about how cars get built nowadays. It's mostly machines building other machines. Who's to...

Yes, Kamiyama has made it clear in interviews, that the Stand Alone Complex is set in a separate timeline, where the Puppetmaster (Ningyo Tsukai) does not exist.

The movie, incidentally, takes place in 2029, whereas the SAC begins in 2030.

In the last episode of SAC 2nd Gig, Motoko finally figured out who Kuze was and that she knew him from her childhood and then the CIA killed him. She figured out who he was long before that. Right after diving into Kuze's brain she says: "I know him" and later she tells Batou, that she ha...

I'm pretty sure it was mentioned to be an OVA - that is, without a theatrical release. Also, if my memory serves me correctly, it will be shown on television in September, before the DVD release. As usual, I'll propably grab the fansubs and buy the offical release as soon as it comes out.

Well, I am intigrued. It doesn't seem, that the Puppeteer's story is at all like that of the manga or movie. I am curious to see, how this plot premise will unravel. I'm assuming that Togusa is in charge, because he's a former police detective and such skills are more important than military tactics...

Texhnolyze is not very much like Ghost in the Shell, but it's a very good anime in its own right. Its not very easy to get in, though. It took some time for me to get used to its unusual style and storytelling. If you wish deep, introspective anime, though, Texhnolyze will offer you exactly that. I ...

So how does the 3D look on the big screen - is there a real feel of three-dimensionality? I don't think that there are any digital projectors currently in my country, so I doubt I will see the effect any time soon. I imagine, that they will get some as soon, as it gets confirmed, that more movies us...

The reason i'm not sure on batou's alliegences in that incident is that in the translation i saw, Ishikawa gets information from the CIA database that says Batou was 'a part of' operation sunset. It's been awhile, since I saw that episode, but as far as I can remember, in the subs on my DVD, Ishika...

Well, obviously. Though there are HDMI-DVI converters, if you have a HD-Ready TV with a DVI-connector instead of HDMI.

The blue-ray and HD DVD players scale normal DVDs to 720p. All of them? Well, that's good news - I wasn't sure if all of them had that property. But they'll never get it as good, as they would be without scaling. That would make the HD-DVDs and Blue Rays rather pointless, in themselves. In any case...

I am not an expert on the subject, but I read a study, once, that stated, that an ordinary human brain is capable of creating potentially dozens of logically consistent multiply personalities and that even mentally healthy people can create them, although they never actually emerge on them. The expe...
