I was quite fond of Lynch's Dune too. It had it's flaws sure, but it was a valiant attempt at adapting the ideas of the book and had some truly fantastic visual moments. The mini-series that ran on the Sci Fi channel was perhaps a better medium for the narrative, but it really couldn't compete with ...

I love the game trailer season and trying to work out what the plot points are going to be from the snippets you get :) This and the one for metal gear rising kept me entertained for hours.

Currently being made to read The Turn of The Screw and The Man Who Was Thursday which I don't mind at all. And my cheeky bit on the side is Hugh Laurie's The Gun Seller which is fun, light and a little bit pulpy - just the way i likes em'. :) I'm so bad at sticking to one book at a time, I've made a...

Love Snow Crash, really funny and you can really see where it's influenced technology developers irl. Prefer The Diamond Age though because he dropped the whole writing in the present tense thing which I just found a bit wearing..[/i]

Deus Ex 3

The big trailer here came out this month, anyone else waiting on DE3? The original Deus Ex was pretty heavily influenced by Ghost in the Shell, but watching the trailer for this one I was half-expecting Batou to walk into shot. I'll be so annoyed if it doesn't live up to the hype, Edios Montreal chu...

I saw so many facebook status updates and twitter tweets saying what a great loss it was, almost all of them from people I doubt have ever read anything he's written.

how busy was this forum back when things were at their peak?? There was a point where pretty much all the regulars tended to come online at similar time (and people who were just on all the time refreshing and waiting for a new post - you know who you are!) so because of this there were about 20 od...

yeah I finally got around to seeing Waltz with Bashir last week and it's really moving. And I know what you mean about metal gear solid, the opening shot of them in the truck is almost exactly the same as the start of MGS4 ..well except for the fact that they're bunnies of course :P Apparently it's ...

Nope it's a fairly common question these days often asked in connection to the whole idea that the human body is supposedly comprised of entirely new cells from those it had seven years ago. Fairly old question too, the oldest recorded version is probably the ship of Theseus paradox written down by ...

Possible solution to conflict in Human-Robot interactions?

According to this experiment making them tachikoma-levels of cute seems to work.
"One man turned the robot back in the direction from which it had just come, saying out loud to the Tweenbot, "You can’t go that way, it’s toward the road.”"

..awh :)
