Not much Jeff ! I'm still teaching, but I just graduated! I'll be getting certified to teach in September which is super exciting! I'm really glad to see that this place is still around. Now that GITS is on Netflix I have tons of catching up to do. :D (I probably won't be around too much, since my o...

People often like to see a bit of themselves in leading characters, If your main audience is going to be Japanese then it makes sense for your main characters to at least look Japanese-ish. That's more like what I meant, but I'll respond more to Sylphi's post when I'm not tired and at risk of posti...

I just watched the first episode via netflix...is this what we would define as steampunk? i like it so far. Yep as far as I remember Last Exile is the quintessential steampunk anime. I've only seen a few episodes though, but I think if you're running around in a blimp-like aircraft that puts you sq...

You might want to read the manga for further information regarding Malice, i thing the idea with the gavel republic is that it is a silver exporter and that is the only reason Japan has any interest in it. Hey, I know I'm not a moderator anymore and you can feel free to bring back old topics, but t...

I've seen extracts from a a paper on the use of ATP (Adenosine triphosphate) generated in the body of an organism to power tiny machines that utilize the energy in ATP to function. That's certainly another possibility. That seems possibly dangerous to me. It's basically that the nanomachines are ru...

Yellow. I'm Individual Twelve, recently activated user and Batou fanboy. My favourite GITS is Stand Alone Complex 1st GiG, and my fave episode is Jungle Cruise... since it's got a good history to it, has a powerful ending and shows a different side of Batou. Plus, watching Batou chase a psychopathi...

For me the most emotional scenes were in GITS: SAC 1 gig, tachikoma's death and also in 2 gig their sacrifice at the end. But the most emotional anime I ever watched was 5 centimeters per second, I cried like a baby. Er spoiler?! Please make sure you let people know if you're going to be saying som...

"I need more Tereus!" No, Jeni...don't say that. Haha. Why the crap not!? I thought he was an interesting character, and could be an interesting way to delve into the whole bioroid/humanity dichotomy. Er yeah, so what if I have a little fangirl crush on him! Why you hatin? Ur i realized y...

Re: Appleseed: Genesis

Appleseed: Genesis I hear is the title of the upcoming tv series. I wonder if it will be in relation to the films, or go the way of SAC and reinterpret. I hope they reinterpret. OOOH I hope it continues the movies. I need more Tereus! I think that Appleseed needs less interpretation than Ghost in t...

Heh I only own the first DVD (own a lot more fansubbed :)), but watching TV on an I-pod is bad for the eyes. Plus you can't really see anything anyway. And when you watch it on the computer the quality goes down a lot. But I might download that episode with Batou's backstory. Him being my favorite c...

Of course it was fan service - try picturing a woman in reality in a pink panty suit that is in a secret government section philosophizing about what it means to be human. Seriously, would you call that woman as mature as you think of Motoko in the show? Which is the reason why a live action Ghost ...

Who are the three of you you who voted for #3? ::slaps the resident fanboys silly::

If she's really supposed to be representative of a strong woman she should put on some clothes already. It's all about the fanservice though, so I'm not surprised.

Yes! Having read the original graphic novel, I agree that the live adaptation of V for Vendetta was as accurate as you could get for a 2hour feature some 20 years after the original work. It's not like they had to be very creative about it though... Is my memory faulty or isn't the ending different...
