It's funny ... for the longest time the only comics I really liked were The Dark Knight Returns, the Dark Phoenix saga in X-Men, and Watchmen. After being disappointed by EVERY Batman film, however, I am cynical about any Dark Knight release.

Too bad.

Anyone else watch Ninja Warrior?

Or Sasuke or Kunoichi (the Japanese names for the show)? One hundred contestants try to complete an incredibly difficult obstacle course ... then the few who make it have to complete another, more difficult course ... and another ... and finally a difficult "Final Stage" to win. As a measu...

I think one of the last EA games I played was an NHL game for the Dreamcast. It wasn't awful, but it wasn't really like playing hockey either. The opponent AI was very predictable; after a very short time I knew just where to take a shot (from the right of the goalie out near the blue line) to score...

"We're not computers...We're physical": Robots

This article in USA Today made me wonder ... are the people in this forum as in favor of robots as I would think they are? Japanese robots enter daily life --USA Today, 1 March 2008 Although I can see why people would worry about job security, etc., I love the idea of robots and AI and all that. Not...

I agree--stuff like this is really cool! Reminds me of when I was a kid and dreamt that I could go outside and see the planets like they were in astronomy books.

I know, I know  But by the time I tried to get it the first time, it was really hard to get (and very expensive), and so I gave up ... until Sylphi pointed out that they'd released it again recently, and I was able to get it this time. Seeing it does revive my interest things Wired and Weird :)

Yeah, I did think about that ... but as I intend to update often (!), I thought I'd just end up proliferating little subtopics that don't go anywhere.

I may go ahead and change the way I'm doing it, though. Hmmmm ... :?:

24 Feb update

I've finally added my review of Innocence to the site--slowly catching up on these things :) I've tweaked the Boards a bit here and there (mainly locking a few old threads that might make new members think the Boards are down or dead and changing a few items from announcements or stickies to normal ...

I've created a Technology forum! It's empty at the moment, but feel free to fill it up with technobabbly goodness! (Well, related to GitS, anyway.) I could add a section for tech generally--but would that be better as topics within the "And More ..." forum? Or should it have its own forum?...

Is there still interest in this? I'm perfectly happy to set up a new sub-forum about technology. As you said, it will probably dovetail with philosophy, but I think it's sufficiently different to stand on its own.

Sounds good to me--although I'd prefer that you post links to the pictures, rather than pasting the actual images into the boards. It has to do with (probably outdated) netiquette about eating up other people's bandwidth. (Of course, if it's your own pictures from your own site, that wouldn't apply,...

Well... Saito, I can REALLY relate to what you are saying about anime in general. As time went by, I learned to treat it like any other artform. I don't go for it just because it's anime. I go for it if it's good, period. I agree. In fact, there was a long time when I didn't watch much anime at all...

That looks very interesting! I hope they show it on the Discovery Channel or something here.

It would be pretty strange to stare down at the "you" that you're building ... I'd want to create an entirely new person/appearance.

The Lain forum ... wow, that was ages ago! Those were the old Discus forums, which haven't really been maintained/existed for years. Funny, I was thinking about putting up my old Lain site again (I still have the files; I could update the code a bit and maybe have it all still work) because I finall...

Yup, anti-Cold War, although it could also be seen as an anti-nuclear weapon song.

(Now that we've been talking about it, this song has been stuck in my head all day ... thanks, everyone :P
