Ok Elmo, that post was priceless. Its all about the mullet and (lmfao!) the little sniper kitten playing Saito. Although off hand I can think of anybody, this does seem like a fun thread.

Yay! Gackt for Motoko!!

Ok, I can dig Charlize as Motoko, but I still think Morgan Freeman would totally rock as the Old Ape (maybe if he stands in a trench?).
Boma's a toughie...John Goodman, maybe?

Personally I vote for Yumiku Shaku as Motoko, because that face is one hundred percent her in the films. As for Gackt, I agree with you Black Mamba, he has that role down, if Yumiku can't do it! :P

And yes, Elmo, you've always managed to make us laugh! :) Kitten takes the Saito Role.

PS: I think I should play Motoko. :( I look really good in her clothes and all! *runs off ranting like a mad lunatic*

i really only know of english-speaking actors for the most part, so please forgive me if i offer little candiates that are nihon-jin...

Motoko: i'm thinking someone like jessica alba...or how 'bout whatsherface from hellboy??

Batou: the rock...or someone else of wrestling fame who can decently act. actually, i think the rock is a good choice.

Togusa: jason patric? ryan gosling?

For the first movie, the francophone subs were done by the "official" french voices of Sigourney Weaver (for Motoko) and Governator (for Batou). I think the actual actors would fit pretty well those 2 roles.

I can see Weaver doing Motoko, except that Motoko's body looks like she's in her mid 20s, and Sighourney doesn't quite have that look.

Here is an odd one. If I was casting a GITS movie or TV show....

Aramaki. I would go for Kitano. Good actor, good age, and Aramaki should stay Asian

Togusa: I think Nathan Fillion would be perfect for it. You guys remember Fillion (Firefly).

Batou: If one were to look past color, I think Michael Clarke Duncan. He can act and the man is a behemoth. Barring that, I think Vin Diesel could handle it. He has the Jawline.

Motoko: I think people are forgetting that Carrie-Anne Moss was cast to play a character based on Kusanagi, so I think it would be like fitting into an comfortable pair of...assless chaps.

My casting Call would be

Motoko:

Kate Beckinsale
Image

Batou
Mickey Rourke
Image

If bruce willis beefed up a bit, he'd proably make a good Batou

For togusa i would probably go for a younger Jeff Blum
Image

For the tachi's i'd definately cast Johnny 5

I'd say Michael Chiklis as Batou. Probably because he has that whole hefty bald tuff guy thing going on. His character in Fantastic Four was the only good thing about that movie, and it gave him quite a Batou-ish feeling in my mind. So yeah. :)

The only serious one I can think of would be Takeshi Kitano for Aramaki, he looks nothing like the animated Aramaki but he's got that understated expression that implies he's always deep in thought, calculating his next move(paralyzed face probably helps). maybe Takeshi Kaneshiro as Togusa..

Kyoko Fukada would make a good Motoko. But they would probably cast Lucy Lue because of box office appeal.

Ian McKellen as Aramaki

Johnny Depp as Togusa ( just because he's strange )

Orlando Bloom as anyone ( Just cause he's sexy )

Ian McKellen, sure why not.

Johnny, or Orlando?...O_o....nooot so much, my dear friend. That's a last resort in my opinion!
