quick Haraway Q.

Post by Elmo »

Where exactly does the examiner lady 'Haraway' work? in the dubbed cut that I've seen it suggests by the way it's cut and her dialougue(eng dub), that she is at the police station, presumably working in some capacity as a forensics examiner.

However her lab looks to be more geared to maintenance and her zippo lighter has a Locus Solus logo on it(at least I assume that the 'LS' is a locus solus logo, it also appears briefly when LS computer systems are being accessed by togusa.). So which is she supposed to be? police lab tech or LS maintenance tech.

All the dialogue in the original Japanese script indicates, that she is the forensics investigator of the local police department. Nothing in her talk indicates any connection to Locus Solus, in her part.

I haven't noticed the LS visuals before, though. They might be a subtle note of the influence that Locus Solus holds, or they might just be a some sort of animators' joke.

A small animator's joke makes sense i guess and it's kinda' explainable as being an industry freebie from the LS pr department(I have loads of free stuff my brother gives me from various drugs companies, including a viagra fountain pen sitting on my desk :) ). I thought i'd missed out on a major plot point or something

little off topic, as a girl, it was Extra funny watching the reactions I used to get from carrying around the Viagra pen I got from a nurse friend.

Personally, I thought that she was forensics inspector. However, if you listen to her closely, and on a more personal note, I think that she simply took her job due to her phylosophical fascination with machines. I mean, the woman managed to make Togusa flip by simply saying a few things that didn't fit under his belt of belief. Aside from that, not only did she have good reasoning, but also she seemed very stable and well supported by her own reasons on it. Truly a marvelous character. :)

Kind of reminded me of Aramaki actually. I could see them clashing heads.

if shes a post mortem examiner then she has a bad sence of humor hence the joke, an example of this is seaing a mutilated corpse and thinking"hmn, i fancy mince tonight"
I think its more of a specialist machine shop.
