superiority complex insterad of stand-alone?

These gus bring up a good point. GitS is a world where technology is ubiquitous, but what about when only a few can have it?

Marvel comics has sort of thrashed this idea around for several years. Their take on it is that "regular" humans don't like/trust meta-humans. And in Marvel, the regular humans are in charge and try to drive out the improved versions.

Movies like GATTICA hit it from the other side - after the technology is commonplace, but before it is everywhere. The modified humans restrict the regular humans.

This comic is also exploring the idea: http://www.agirlandherfed.com/1.1.html

First, cybernetically enhanced humans are created and controlled and then the balance of power tips. Still waiting to see where it goes.

So what do you guys think will be the thing?

I guess worst case scenario is that it turns into one more product for the consumer culture to absorb.

I assume only people with money will be able to access to the technology, kinda like how cell phones were only tools by high-profile ballers until twenty years later. i remember when the internet was a choice..and now it is pretty much a required wrench in your toolbox in this global market. cyberization will be pretty much the same...I feel...like cosmetic surgery, people with either have the money for the upgrades or go into debt for them. Then soon, cost of production will decrease and cyberization will be mass marketed...making it pretty much necessary to get it in order to stay socially and economically relevant.

This movie coming out reminds me of this topic. I really hope someone gets on the ball with the GitS film.

I read a short story using a similar premise once.

If there was a deadline at work you might need a week to complete it, but they want it by the end of the day. So you'd go back and retroactively skip dinner with your friends and get an hour here or there. You might un-brush your teeth that morning. There was a computer system that kept track of all this so that no time anomalies would come up. The main guy rebelled and crashed the system. Interesting story. Really just symbolic for making sure you don't let other people waste your time.
