I suspect a large scale full-blown philosophical discussion to erupt any moment...

If you think about global warming and everything thats happening now all over the world(massive floods, storms,...aka disasters). We probably won't make it to the time when Gits might come to life.

civilisation does seem somewhat perilous of late... mind you we've pretty much always been on the brink of screwing humanity over one way or another. Did you know for instance that if the guy who developed CFCs had used Bromine instead of chlorine compounds then CFCs would have completely destroyed the ozone layer well before we'd have had time to notice, destroying many of the world's ecosystems and giving us all skin cancer and cataracts ..luckily bromine was a tiny bit more expensive.

That's kind of odd, because Bromine is less reactive than Chlorine. I guess it didn't bond as well to the Fluorine as Chlorine does, meaning the Bromine was more likely to be displaced by the highly reactive Ozone molecule. We ll all I can say is thank **** salt is a readily available source of Chlorine!

As for man kind being on the brink of destroying itself, well we have pretty much always been, but we're still here, for now, and do what we can to help the *people* of tomorrow. Lets enjoy it while it lasts eh and stop being portents of doom all the time. It gets old after a while, ya know!

I think the late George Carlin summed the argument up fairly well though.:

There's a great difference between 'Death' and 'Silence'.
