yeah...so did I. Well, he sure lived long enough to see the impact of his books on the world and how his themes are still relevant today. That is really something. I bet he must have heard about the Gits references and smirked. _________________ Rise up.

I saw so many facebook status updates and twitter tweets saying what a great loss it was, almost all of them from people I doubt have ever read anything he's written. |

Oh come on, don't be so hard. Besides, I think Catcher in the Rye is a mandatory read in english class in the US. I work here in Quebec (French-Canadian province) in a high school and the grade 11 advanced english teachers have it as a part of their curriculum. I wouldn't be surprised if most american with minimal college education have read it at some point. _________________ Rise up.

It's funny, I never got a chance to read Catcher in the Rye until I was in University, but then I heard that it's practically mandatory in the States.
Personally I found it to be an odd book.
I believe that it's easy to comprehend, but at the same time it's kind of like a double-edged sword and it can hurt ya as much as it can help ya.
I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes.
But even I had to look the quotation up. _________________ Original? Copy? I come from a world where such words are meaningless. |
