For what stands GIG??

hi everybody,
I got one question - I hope someone can answer this.
I search everywhere but cant find the meaning of the GIG -
Ghost in the Shell S.A.C (Stand Alone C...) GIG

For what stands GIG????

I can't remember the programme makers ever giving an explaination of why it's called a 'gig', but it could be either a reference to a 'gigabyte' or the slang word 'gig' which just means a job(normally a job playing music, but it's meaning has expanded to describe any job).

i cant believe that there is no meaning in the "GIG"

I think we were going after this interpretation - it does have a meaning: " Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C. 2nd GIG" => " Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C. 2nd Job"

They spelled it with ALL CAPS which is irregular, so maybe they are taking advantage of the ambiguity between the word meaning "job" (like gig economy) and gigabyte. There is also the US country term gig for a type of hunting of amphibians. A gig in this sense is both the act of hunting and the tool used for it.




Also this is the English name of it, what was the original Japanese name?
