Pearl Jam - Once

back to the roots ;) The last weeks were dominated by the Yeah Yeah Yeah´s new album "It´s Blitz"...even if it sounds different to the previous albums give it a try!

Does anybody know the Band "Beirut"? Man, this is great music!

Introduced to new (to me) music today ...

Nightwish--Bye Bye Beautiful
Evanescence--Bring Me to Life

Actually, I know I've heard that Evanescence song before, so I guess it isn't even new to me. Nightwish interests me, although I don't think I can go all the way back to my metal roots and be crunchy all the time.

The last few days I've been travelling down memory lane, as I'd been speaking with a friend of mine about being around when Goth "happened." Been thinking about Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy, etc. I really need to get some Sisters on CD, but I'll wait until I can get the English versions, as they have more songs.

Perversely, I now want to go listen to Sarah McLachlan ... but the slightly more crunchy Sarah singing with Manufacture :)

If you like By Bye Beautiful, try this....

I'm really sort of upset that Tarja split with the group. The new girl just doesn't have the voice for it. And then Tarja off by herself doesn't have the right musical support.

There are several Nightwish in this playlist

That was wonderful!

Yeah, she's amazing--they also do a good metal version of a song from Phantom of the Opera (extra amusing since I'm watching Andrew Lloyd Webber on BBC America right now!).

If you could just get Sarah Brightman to join a metal band ...

Speaking of Sarah Brightman in metal, I'm certain she sings in REPO! The Genetic Opera....

Were any of us ever that young?

The crazy thing is that I remember when that was new.

Just discovered Lacuna Coil ... "Swamped" and "I LIke It." (Saw the vid for "Swamped" on Kerrang, was interested enough to look for the band on YouTube.)

I've also been listening to Tarja quite a bit--more than Nightwish, lately.

That's wild. I only just heard of Teisto on Monday night.

Was buying snacks at a convenience store and the clerk asked what I wanted to hear (he was changing CDs) and I said Techno or some Euro Dance.

He told me about Tiesto. Pretty cool stuff

And who would have expected a Mexican store clerk to know about a Dutch DJ? I thought I was the only one in North TX that was into it.

That is pretty cool. If you already like techno and euro dance, you have a long line of songs awaiting you! Tiesto puts on some serious mixes, and if you happen to have sirius XM, then you can tune in to Area channel. Tiesto has a nightly cast on there with his mixes! Hope you become a fan!
