lololol, yeah, I call it the modern art theory. I think theres a lot of people into art now days that have no udnerstanding of art, they have no emotional connection to it, but they want to be into it. So they study the exactness of the art world and buy into it, they learn the social politics of wh...

The clarifications to the general statement make all the difference. We've gone from sounding as if animals had infinite consciousness, to drawing distinctions between infinite consciousness and no consciousness. And we've made other clarifications: Kim's statements point to a third mode of being, ...

So... why does she help Batou? And why does she take an active role in things? And why will she always be there for him? When I said "the major achieved a peace with everything akin to this state of acceptance of the way of things that something of infinate or zero conciousness would have by d...

That seemed advisable, as I was talking about the lyrics. Oh I agree totaly, I too believe there are multiple references to multiple sources and ideoligies in the film and i just ment to differenciate the view of god(s) I was gonna bring up from the one u were currently talking about. Yes. But Bato...

Yes, I just watched it back and you do see the shell casing fly pasrt the screen, I had always presumed the bang was the gyanoid self destructing, thanks for clearing that up. I mod fps computer games so working out the spread of shotgun pellets with different barrel lengths/cartrige gages etc and t...

Just to clarify these wernt the subs off the uk DVD, these were the subs of another version of the film I have. I will have to go back and check the subs again on the uk DVD, there may be a 3rd set of dialog lo, but i imagine they are closer the dubl. Haraway still spoke about the human/machine rela...

I made this point in a few posts now, but if u are itnerested in knowing an alternate version of the dialog try turning your dvds to japanese and watching the subtitle tracks, if u have multiple versions of the film even better, you will be shocked how much the dialog changes version to version.

Ok in answer to the first post, I think it was mainly a happy ending, but the doll reminded us that the questions and theories braught up by the film continue to effect the world, even if Batou has found some level of peace. An interview with Oshii he said he likes being around his dog because it re...

Suddenly, we cut back to Togusa and Haraway. Togusa says, "Absurd." He then looks towards the camera- just to the side of the frame- and seems disturbed. Another reverse shot- approximating Haraway's point-of-view- and we realize that Togusa is looking at a cluster of android shells. Brok...

I picked Innocence for personal asthetic reasons as well as philosophical ones. I like "old style" anime fine but I Love film noir which I think Innocence was greatly based on, hence the old cars, the jazz, the muted color scheme, the sense of surreality of the mixed cgi elements, the con...

Why do you all think that Motoko said that to Batou? To sooth his ache of missing her? To tell him he himself should become quiet in his soul? Or to say that she herself was like that now? I think the first film is about Motoko and the way she isnt at one with herself. she has an inner conflict, on...
